When we were choosing a destination to wed, we knew it had to be Greece. Rich in culture, with exquisite food and beautiful scenery– it was a no brainer! We also knew that we wanted an island, but to evade the commercialism and crowds of Santorini and Mykonos. An island in the Argosaronic Gulf, Spetses offered a haven we were looking for. Pine-covered and with lavish architecture, Spetses is an island where the Greek and foreign aristocracy and royalty flocked in the early 20th Century for balls and dinners. From cobblestone roads with lovely mosaic designs created in the late 1800s to horse and carriage rides under the stars and crystalline waters, Spetses is everything relaxation and splendour.
